Aari embroidery Y Stitch and Fern Stitch By Prisara@321123 0 Comments Posted on February 14, 2025 Y Stitch as the name says the stitch looks like y and it is used in shading methods and to fill a design. Fern Stitch is commonly used as fillers to complete the design. Y Stitch Draw three lines and start with the first line. Put a chain stitch towards the center line slanting. Then put a long chain stitch touching the third line and slanting to the opposite direction. Pull the long chain till it becomes a knot. The knot is formed in the center line and the long chain should end in the first line and then put a chain stitch and continue with the next slanting line. Continue the same process to form the y Stitch. The stitch looks like y. The final look of the stitch is shown in below picture. Fern Stitch This is commonly used to fill a design and to make it a little grand. Start with a long chain stitch. Put a slanting chain towards the right side of the straight chain stitch. Pull the slanting chain to form a knot and put a chain stitch. Similarly continue the chain stitch slanting towards the left side and pull it back to form a knot towards the centre and put a chain stitch. All the knot should be formed at the same point in the center. You can try this fern stitch with three petals five petals or seven petals according to the space in the design. Five petals fern stitch is shown in below picture. Make sure the distance between the side stitching are equal from the centre chain so it looks uniform. The centre chain should be height and the remaining side slanting chains should be smaller. The slanting chain should also not be too wider from the centre chain. For video explanation in Tamil check below For video explanation in English check below You can try combination of any stitches learnt so far to try a new pattern and designs. The whole idea of giving the activity in the last class was to give opportunity to everyone to think how the design is done and to recreate it. It is the button hole stitch in the centre and then connected with the zig zag lock chain stitch to form the flower. Again the button hole stitch is done in gold zari to finish the design. Trying combinations of stitches and to recreate a design by seeing a picture will improve your creativity and will help you to form your own and unique patterns. Share:
