Aari embroidery Super Healthy Banana Stem Fries/Proriyal By Prisara@321123 0 Comments Posted on February 14, 2025 Ingredients: 1 banana stem 1 onion, finely chopped A handful of coriander leaves, chopped A few curry leaves 1/2 spoon mustard seeds 1/2 spoon chenna dal 1 tablespoon urad dal 2 tablespoons grated coconut 1/2 spoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon chili powder Salt to taste Oil for frying Instructions: Prepare the Banana Stem: Using a brush, clean the banana stem, removing any outer layers and fibers. Cut the banana stem into round pieces and keep removing the fibers. To prevent the banana stem round slices from turning black, cut them into small pieces and soak them in rice water. The starch present in the rice water helps to inhibit the oxidation process and maintain the natural color of the banana stem. Immerse a stick amidst the delicate banana stem pieces, gracefully rinsing away every lingering fiber to reveal a pristine and refined texture. Once the fibers have been thoroughly rinsed, wash it and delicately remove the banana stem pieces from the rice water, allowing any excess liquid to gently drain away. Preparing the Seasoning: In a pan, heat oil on the stove. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, and chenna dal for seasoning. Sprinkle a little turmeric powder and stir. Cooking the Banana Stem: Add the banana stem to the pan and mix well with the seasoning. While cooking, the banana stem will release its own moisture, so no need to add water. After the banana stem is cooked and tender, remove the lid. Adding Flavors: Sprinkle the chili powder and salt over the cooked banana stem. Mix well to coat the banana stem evenly. Cover the pan again and continue cooking on medium heat for an additional 5 to 10 minutes. Final Touches: Remove the lid and check if the banana stem is cooked well. Once cooked, gently crush the banana stem using a spoon or fork. Add grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves to the pan. Mix everything together to incorporate the flavors. Serving: Serve the delicious and healthy Banana Stem Fries as a snack or side dish. Remember to consume in moderation, enjoying about one cup per week to reap its health benefits.
