Peacock Feather Stitch

Previously we have learnt peacock feather stitch using only chain stitch and with beads and chamki and now we will be learning peacock feather stitch with thread work.

Draw a feather shape with four partition.

Now start from the first line and put a long chain stitch to the third line.

Next put a chain touching the fourth line and pull it back toward the second line and put a chain stitch. While you pull the chain from the fourth line to the second line the knot will be formed in the third line.

Now put a chain stitch in the first line and pull it towards the third line and the knot is formed in the second line.

Continue the same process to complete the feather stitch. All the knots will be formed in the second and third lines. The work between the second line and third line will be thicker whereas the work between the third line and fourth line will be thinner. The work from first and second line will be medium. So the feather thread work will be filled in different layers and different volumes. We can add more colours for shading effect and to look like real feather and also we can try flowes with different shades with this thread work which will be explained in next blog.
