Border Stitch

Border stitch as its name it is used for borders or as outline for the neck designs. Instead of piping you can replace this stitch. Also for simple silk saree who wish to have thread work can use this stitch.

Start with three base lines of chain stitch. Make sure the chains are equal in size and the loops are not twisted. Once the base is ready start within the first loop of the first chain and connect it to the first loop of the third chain making a zig-zag stitch.

Continue the same till the end to get the border stitch.

To learn how to do zig-zag chain stitch check the below post link.

Continue the zig-zag stitch inside the loops of the first and third chain to form the border stitch. This stitch is thicker and also looks embossed. The final look of the stitch is shown in the picture below.

Make sure you do not skip any chains in-between. All the loops need to be connected with the zig-zag chain stitch. Also all the steps that was followed in the zig-zag chain stitch like to pull the thread in the same direction and then turn to continue the next stitch and not to put the chains wider or heightened should be followed.

Double Border Stitch

Double border stitch is as same as the border stitch however the base lines count is four in double border stitch. All the other steps remains the same. Check the drawing and the video explanation for clear understanding.

Start with the chain stitch and complete four lines to form the base. Refer the diagram explaination of first chain, second chain, third chain and the fourth chain stitches to form the base for the double border stitch.
